NEW Moble App is Available for iPhone and Android Users  

The new MVLC Mobile App is now available! It can be downloaded from the app store or users who already have the previous app installed can simply update the app to download the new version. 

MVLC Mobile is the Manchester-by-the-Sea Public Library’s mobile app that gives you access to the library’s resources and your account from any device, anywhere, anytime. Browse the Library’s collections, check out or place a hold on items, and even renew items previously checked out. If many people in your house use the library, you can even link their accounts together to easily view multiple accounts all from the same device.  

Manchester Public Library Launches New eCard Service  

No library card? No problem! Residents can now sign up online for an electronic library card.  

Signing up for an electronic library card (eCard) has never been easier. Thanks to Manchester-by-the-Sea Public Library’s membership in the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC), Manchester residents who do not yet have a library card can now register online for an eCard that provides immediate access to the library’s electronic collections.  

With an MVLC eCard from, Manchester-by-the-Sea Public Library residents gain free access to more than 65,000 eBooks, digital audiobooks, and online magazines, as well as numerous local and statewide electronic collections for entertainment, study and research such as Overdrive, Rocket Languages, and Consumer Reports.  

MVLC eCards can be converted to a full library card, which allows card holders to borrow, and place holds on physical materials, by visiting the library. Chocolate Olympics! – School Break Program

Oreo stacking!  M&M-themed relay races!  Hershey’s Kiss unwrapping — with oven mitts!  Are you ready for the Chocolate Olympics?  We might have to wait two long years ’til the Winter Games in Milan, but whatevs — we’ve got chocolate!!! Join the graphic novel club! We meet once a month from January to June. Explore new and new-to-you graphic novels with friends, snacks and activities! We will be discussing “Ghost Book” by Remy Lai. *Haunted Happenings with Jeff DePaoli: Haunted Overload (Virtual) 

Thursday, February 15 at 6:30—7:30PM 

Haunted Overload is simply one of the most creative and unique haunted attractions in New England, located on the DeMeritt Hill Farm in Lee NH. The authentic farm location provides the perfect backdrop for the hundreds of lighted pumpkins and movie quality sets during Halloween. The haunt is changed and expanded each year to give the patron something new and exciting to experience. Join set builder and roaming actor, Nicole Tracchia, and Jeff DePaoli, Host of “That Halloween Podcast”, as they talk all about this unique haunted experience right in our backyard! 

This session will be recorded and all registrants will receive the video link soon after the program.

*Author Discusses “The Globemakers: The Curious Story of an Ancient Craft” (Virtual)

Join Peter Bellerby, founder of Bellerby & Co. Globemakers, in this visual tour through the history of Globemaking, how it almost became a lost art, and how he is bringing it back, one beautiful hand painted globe at a time. His book, a full-color photographic portrait of a fantastic art, “The Globemakers” is an enlightening exploration of globes, or “earth apples,” as they were first known, and their ability to show us ourselves and our place in an infinite universe. 

Peter Bellerby is the founder of Bellerby & Co. Globemakers, the world’s only truly bespoke makers of globes. His team of skilled craftspeople make exquisite terrestrial, celestial and planetary globes. The business began after he failed to find a special globe for his father’s 80th birthday – and decided to make one himself, taking him on an extraordinary journey of rediscovering this forgotten craft. 

Mystery Book Group: “The Bookseller” 

Friday, February 23 at 10:30—11:30AM 

The Manchester Mystery Book Group meets on the last Friday of the month at 10:30AM. February’s meeting will occur in the library’s reading room. Email mwillwerth@manchesterpl.org with any questions or to get connected with the group. 

We will discuss “The Bookseller” by Mark Pryor. Physical copies will be available at the circulation desk in late January/ early February and a digital audiobook is available through the Hoopla app. Sign up using your Manchester library card. 

Free Friday Movies at MBTS Public Library 

Friday, February 23 at 6:00—8:00PM 

We will be showing a movie in the Reference Room on the 4th Friday of every month at 6:00PM. We will supply the popcorn. Feel free to bring covered, non-alcoholic beverages. The movie this month has a MPAA Rating: R; for violence.

Monday, February 26 at 7:00—8:00PM 

Authors Ali Hazelwood, Nikki Payne, and Denise Williams will discuss their latest romance novels in this unforgettable panel discussion followed by audience Q&A. 

This program is made possible through a partnership with Tewksbury Public library and will be recorded. All registrants will receive the recording via email within 48 hours of the program.
