Manchester residents can reserve a pair from our Library of Things at manchesterpl.org/borrow/library-of-things/ You can also checkout birdwatching kits, donated by Manchester By The Sea Friends of the Library or trekking poles. 

Manchester Public Library Launches New eCard Service 

No library card? No problem! Residents can now sign up online for an electronic library card. 

Signing up for an electronic library card (eCard) has never been easier. Thanks to Manchester-by-the-Sea Public Library’s membership in the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC), Manchester residents who do not yet have a library card can now register online for an eCard that provides immediate access to the library’s electronic collections. 

With an MVLC eCard from, Manchester-by-the-Sea Public Library residents gain free access to more than 65,000 eBooks, digital audiobooks, and online magazines, as well as numerous local and statewide electronic collections for entertainment, study and research such as Overdrive, Rocket Languages, and Consumer Reports. 

MVLC eCards can be converted to a full library card, which allows card holders to borrow and place holds on physical materials, by visiting the library. Winter and Spring Storytime 

Wednesdays at 10:30—11:15AM 

Join Miss Audrey for Storytime for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers! We’ll share books, songs, and games. Join us every Wednesday starting January 24th at 10:30 am. This program runs through to April 24th. 

Early Childhood Partners CFCE’s Seaside Saturdays 

Saturday, February 10 at 10:00—11:00AM 

Please join us for a SUPERHERO-THEMED story time and craft on Saturday, February 10th from 10-11! This program is designed for children ages 0-6 and their adult and is presented by Early Childhood Partners CFCE. 

Pajama Storytime

Get cozy at the library! Come dressed in your pjs for a Storytime and craft with Miss Audrey on February 22nd at 6 pm. This program is for ages 4-7.

*Graphic Novel Club

Join the graphic novel club! We meet once a month from January to June. Explore new and new-to-you graphic novels with friends, snacks and activities! We will be discussing “Ghost Book” by Remy Lai. Ask at the front desk for your copy now! This program is for grades 4-7, and registration is required for each monthly meeting.

*Effective Grassroots Movements that Impact Voting Rights (Virtual) 

Monday, February 5 at 7:00—8:00PM  

What does it take to take a Grassroots idea to a movement which can have significant impact on voting and elections? Join us for this virtual panel discussion to see how that happens and what you can do to be part of that movement! 

Rachael V. Cobb, Ph.D. is Chair and Associate Professor of Government at Suffolk University. Cobb specializes in U.S. elections, election administration, electoral politics, civic engagement, and political participation. 

Professor Cobb established the University Pollworkers Project, a nonpartisan program designed to recruit college students as poll workers as a response to reports of an estimated shortage of 500,000 poll workers nationwide. Since 2006, more than 1,000 students from the Greater Boston area have received training and worked as poll workers. 

Her work as appeared in the Quarterly Journal of Political Science and Studies in American Political Development. Professor Cobb serves on the board of MassVOTE and the Boston Election Advisory Committee. She received her Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and her AB from Bryn Mawr College.
