    Ducklings Storytime

    The History of the Coast Guard in Massachusetts with John Galluzzo

    On Thursday, April 28th at 6:30 PM the Manchester Library will welcome the author of multiple “Images of America” books, John Galluzzo. He will be giving a visual presentation on the history of the Coast Guard in Massachusetts for next month’s community reads book "The Finest Hours" by Michael Tougias. Though he is the author or co-author of more than thirty books, mostly on the local history of the towns south of Boston, he contributes regularly to South Shore Living, Ships Monthly and other magazines. Additionally he is the editor of the United States Life-Saving Service Heritage Association magazine, Wreck & Rescue Journal, and serves as the Awards Committee Chairman for the Foundation for Coast Guard History.

    Mystery Book Group

    Meets the last Friday of the month at 10:30 AM. New Members are always welcome.

    Movie Night: The Lady in The Van

    Come by the Library on Friday, April 29th at 5:30 PM to enjoy a film that gave Maggie Smith a nomination for a Golden Globe. It tells the true story of Mary Shepherd, or 'Miss S.,' an eccentric elderly woman who, in the early 1970's, lived in a dilapidated van on English playwright Alan Bennett’s driveway in London for 15 years after Bennett befriended her and started to see the world through her eyes. The film stars Maggie Smith, Alex Jennings and Jim Boradbent. Sorry we are not allowed to publicize the title but you can go to the Library’s website to see what the title is: www.manchesterpl.org/movies/movies-in-the-library, or call the Library at 978-526-7711. Bring your own drink, the Library will provide popcorn. This movie is rated PG-13 and anyone under 13 must have a parent or guardian fill out a permission slip available at the Library's circulation desk.

    Wordsmiths Writing Club
