Digital Resource Library Card Registration

Want to access our Digital Resources during the Library Closure but you don’t have a library card? Apply for one by following the information below! If you have any questions please email info@manchesterpl.org.

How it works:

1. Copy and paste the filled out Library Card registration information below in an email and send it to info@manchesterpl.org
2. The digital accounts will then be created by a library staff member
3. After the accounts have been created you will receive an email from our Head of Circulation, Lori Dumont, who will give you your Library Card and PIN numbers that will enable you to access our digital resources.

Please note: These card #’s will have a 90-day expiration date; hopefully by that time we will be open to the public and you can come into the Library to get your physical cards. At that time you will need to bring a photo ID and address verification. You will then be able to borrow both physical (books, media) and digital materials.

MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA PUBLIC LIBRARY PATRON INFORMATION

PLEASE READ:

Ø Public library membership is based on residency. Manchester-by-the-Sea property taxes support the library’s operations. Therefore, local identification is required to obtain a Manchester-by-the-Sea library card. Patron must be present to receive a card. For other Massachusetts residents, your hometown public library card will be registered in the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC) database.

Ø Those staying with family/friends in Manchester may use their host’s library card but only with the host’s permission. The card must be presented to check out items. No items will be checked out without the host’s card.

Ø Your library records and patron information are confidential. A cardholder’s privacy is protected by law, regardless of age. Library staff will only discuss an individual’s account with that person present.

Ø When you set up your online account, initially your PIN is the last 4 digits of the phone number you indicated at the time of your library card registration. Go to www.manchesterpl.org and open Online Catalog from the navigation bar. On the next screen, click on Log In or My Account at the top of the page to make changes to your account.

Ø You are responsible for all items checked out on your library card. DO NOT loan your card unless you are willing to assume that responsibility.

Ø Please return materials on time and in the same condition as borrowed. When returning compact discs, please use the media slot in the book drop on Church Street.

Ø The library does not charge overdue fines, but you may lose borrowing privileges if you have overdue/lost materials.

Ø Changes to your library account must be made in person.

Ø If you move or lose your library card, please notify the library immediately.

Ø All children, infants to 7 years old, must be accompanied and supervised by a parent, caregiver, or other responsible adult.
