July’s Director’s Note
Whew! We’re about to enter a heatwave and while Singing Beach is a great place to go to cool off, we have another suggestion…the library! Whether you’re looking for a reading escape, hoping to find some oven-free recipes, or visiting our puzzle table, we’ve got lots of ways to help you relax! And if you’re reading this on Wednesday the 1st, drop in from 12-3 to help us create some decor for our parade-marchers. We’ll be painting bugs, flowers and more to highlight our summer reading theme, Plant a Seed, Read! Then, we’ll see you on the parade route!

Blunt Instrument by Amy Bloom – Murder in an academic setting is deftly handled with Bloom’s wry humor and fully developed characters.
The Burning Side by Sarah Damoff – With heart and heartache, Damoff once again writes masterfully about the cracks in one particular family.
The Subtle Art of Folding Space by John Chu – This sci-fi novel is far from average, so Chu’s debut might pique your interest if you like your physics with a side of laughs and dim sum!
Got book recommendations to share? Adults can participate in their own summer reading program by writing reviews of the books you read this summer. For details, check out our website; you’ll be eligible for prize raffles, and you may earn the gratitude of others looking for their next great read!

A reminder that while the Library will be closed on Friday and Saturday of this week (the 3rd and 4th) in celebration of Independence Day, beginning July 11, we’ll be open on Saturdays from 10-1 for the rest of the summer!
