March’s Director’s Report
“I raise up my voice — not so I can shout but so that those without a voice can be heard… we cannot succeed when half of us are held back.”
Welcome to Women’s History Month!

We hope you will join us in celebrating women’s voices, words, and accomplishments from history, long past and more recent. Pick up a book by or about one of the incredible women featured on our display; we also have plenty of inspiring titles to share with the girls and young women in your life. And on March 16 at 7pm, we hope you’ll join us for a virtual program with Shannon McKenna Schmidt discussing her new book, “You Can’t Catch Us: Lady Bird Johnson’s Trailblazing 1964 Campaign Train and the Women Who Rode with Her” – the story of a women-led operation and an appeal for understanding and civility. Lady Bird Johnson’s monumental journey expanded the role of women in politics and progressed the fight for women’s rights—a fight we still continue today.
Families are invited to come see the Tanglewood Marionettes in a performance of Hansel and Gretel on Tuesday, March 10 at 4:30. We expect lots of kids and families will want to attend this fabulous show, so we’re hosting this performance at the FPC Community Hall, next to the Library behind Santander Bank to be sure we have enough space!
Speaking of space, we are almost finished with our design for a new ADA compliant bathroom. We hope that this is the year we will finally accomplish this much-needed change to our lovely library! We are already shifting collections in anticipation, making our space and resources more accessible to all! Thanks in advance to our very supportive community for helping us to achieve this goal.
Here’s hoping that the blustery days of March will usher in some springtime, and we’ll see you at the library soon!
