Manchester Library Curbside Pickup Service FAQ

The Manchester Public Library staff are taking enhanced safety measures to provide the safest service possible for curbside pickup. Please be aware that COVID-19 can exist in any public place where people are present, and despite following recommended disinfecting guidelines, we cannot guarantee that borrowed library materials are completely free of COVID-19.

The library staff would recommend after picking up library materials to leave them untouched for up to 72 hours to ensure any expose to COVID-19 has been disinfected.

How do I use Curbside Pickup?

  1. You can remotely request library items through the library’s Online Public Access Catalog, or call library staff at 978-526-7711. If a staff member does not answer, please leave a message with your name, phone number, and a message letting staff know you would like to place a pickup order. Also, if you need help finding titles or suggestions to request, use the Personalized Recommendation Request Forms and library staff will get back to you with possibilities for your next pick up.
  2. Once your items become available you will be notified by a library staff member. You may then pick up your requests only during Curbside hours.
  3. Once you are notified that your holds are available, drive to the library during curbside hours and park in front of the Children’s Room entrance on Church Street, adjacent to the library.
  4. Call the Manchester Public Library at 978-526-7711 to alert library staff of your arrival.

What if I don’t have a car?

Delivery is not an available service at this time, but patrons are welcome to come to the library in any way that works for them and staff will bring your items out to you while maintaining social distancing.

What can I borrow from the Library for Curbside Pickup?

  • 8 items for adults per card | 10 items for children per card
    • Checkout has been extended to four weeks. Please return items when finished as delivery between libraries has not resumed and at this time we can only share what is in the Manchester Public Library’s collection
  • Available Materials: Books, Audiobooks, DVD’s, CD’s, and Magazines for all ages
  • Available Equipment: Lenovo YOGA tablets and Lenovo ThinkPad Notebooks for Manchester Public Library patrons for one week.
  • Not Available: Hotspots, Book Club Kits

What if I can’t find any titles that I am interested in?

 Manchester Public Library staff will be happy to provide alternate recommendations based on your preferences.

Can I request items from other libraries?

There is no delivery service between libraries at this time.

Will I be fined for any overdue materials?

 The Manchester Public Library does not have any fines for overdue items.

Who can pick up my items?

When communicating your item requests to library staff, please indicate if an individual other than yourself will be retrieving the items. Library items will already be checked out under the requesting patron’s account, so you will not need to provide your library card.

Are the book drops open to return items when I am done with them?

The Library’s front entrance and the Children’s Room book drops are open for 24-hour access. All returned items are immediately placed in quarantine for 72 hours before being placed back on shelves or reserved for Curbside Pickup. Please allow 72 hours before your account will show your items as returned. Please do not return the items in the bag that you picked them up in.

Do I need to clean library materials before they are returned? 

You do not need to clean the materials. We are quarantining all library materials for 72 hours after they are returned.
