I Am Malala and the Women in the Middle East

Enjoy a discussion on Thursday, April 9th at 6:30 PM with Jennifer Quigley-Jones who is a Graduate Student at Harvard’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies and Kennedy Scholar. She will be coming to the Library to give a talk on women in the Middle East for next month’s community reads book I am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban by Malala Yousafzi. As a specialist on Syria and Iraq with a particular focus on children in conflict, she will discuss a regional scholar’s response to some of the book’s key issues such as female education and the differences in the positions of women across the region. Ms. Quigley-Jones has published and presented on a variety of international topics, including the Syrian refugee crisis, Afghanistan, and Colombia. She is also Iraq Lead Researcher for a Study Group on the Syrian refugee crisis at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.
