On Wednesday, May 18th at 7 PM, Michael Tougias will be visiting the Manchester Historical Museum to discuss this year’s Manchester reads book, “The Finest Hours”, during the Friends of the Library Annual Meeting!

Michael will recount how he put together for his book the amazing real life ordeal of the dramatic Coast Guard operation to valiantly rescue the survivors of two oil tankers split in two during a devastating nor’easter off the coast of Cape Cod in the winter of 1952. Additionally, the book became a motion picture of the same name this year starring Chris Pine, Casey Affleck, and Eric Bana.

His visit is supported in part by the Friends of the Manchester Library and in part by a grant from the Manchester Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. Sign up at the Library to participate. For more details or to register contact rtheriault@mvlc.org or call 978-526-7711.

The library will close at 6 PM to allow all to attend the annual meeting.
