    Seed Saver’s are invited to come to this free information session about starting your garden from seed! Save money and grow any seed you can get your hands on. Talk will include best practices, timing strategies, recommended materials and more! The library will provide some seed catalogs to peruse and share, too. Hosted by Backyard Growers.     Knitting & Crocheting Plus

    All who enjoy knitting, or crocheting, or other needlework, are welcome at the Round Table on Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:30 PM at the Manchester Public Library! The group will meet through the winter.

    We will often have experienced knitters or crocheters on hand. Do join in whether you like the craft, company or if you would enjoy just a pleasant hour of relaxing needlework. Some supplies are at the library; bring your own projects, too. We currently have a good supply of knitting needles but could use a few crochet hooks and some good yarn.

    Pajamas & Popcorn Movie Night: Muppets Most Wanted (2014)

    The whole family is invited to wear your pajamas, eat popcorn, and watch movies together at the library! All children must be accompanied by an adult.

    Muppets Most Wanted (2014): While on a grand world tour, The Muppets find themselves wrapped into an European jewel-heist caper headed by a Kermit the Frog look-alike and his dastardly sidekick. Rated PG.

    On Wednesday, March 9 at 3 PM, meet animals from all around the world as you go on a global safari from your very own backyard!
    This event takes place in the Manchester-by-the-Sea Community Center by the train tracks. For children up to grade 5. Please register ahead of time with Miss Kate at kstadt@mvlc.org or 978-526-2016.

    Movie Night: Youth

    check out a movie nominated for an Academy Award for best original song and a Golden Globe nomination for best supporting actress Jane Fonda. This film also stars Michael Caine, Harvey Keitel and Rachel Weisz. This movie tells the story of a retired orchestra conductor on holiday with his daughter and his film director best friend in the Alps when he receives an invitation from Queen Elizabeth II to perform for Prince Philip's birthday causing them to reflect on lives. Call the Library at (978)526-7711 to register. This movie is rated R and anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian fill out a permission slip available at the Library’s circulation desk.

    Based on Colm Tolbin’s novel “Brooklyn”, follow the journey of a young Irish immigrant who moves to Brooklyn New York during the 1950?s to pursue new opportunities but eventually becomes torn between her love for both countries and two men.     3rd Annual Peep Show Begins!

    Calling all ages! Create a diorama, using those deliciously sweet, marshmallow Peeps as the main characters of your favorite book or movie. Stop in the Library and grab a bag of Peeps (while supplies last), or supply your own, and start peeping into some books and movies.

    Dates you need to know:

    April 25 through April 29 -- Peeps dioramas and entry forms need to be submitted.

    April 30 through May 6 -- Public is invited to view and cast their vote for the Peeples Choice Award.

    May 7 -- Please join us for the Peep Show Party beginning at 11 AM where we will announce all winners.
