    Knits Plus!

    Knitters, Crocheters, Embroiderers, and more calling all Crafters! Drop in one time or many, all Thursdays, November through February, 3-4 PM the Manchester Public Library. Bring your new or old projects, ask for help form more experienced crafters (who often come too) or just enjoy the sociable aspect of getting that scarf finished while chatting with friendly faces. We have some yarn, a few sets of knitting needles to get the very beginner started off. Registration isn’t necessary, but if you have any experience or materials to get us going, please call Sara Collins, Director 978-526-2011.

    Babysitting for Christmas-by-the-Sea

    The Manchester Community Center, the high school’s Green Team, and the library are happy to provide childcare during the Christmas by the Sea shopping night on Friday, December 2 from 5 to 8 PM. There will be snacks, activities, and movies for your kids to enjoy while you shop around town! We’ll happily look after kids from preschool age to 5th grade. Minimum donation is $10 per child with a family maximum of $30 for the whole evening. Proceeds will benefit the MERHS Green Team.

    Monthly Sunday Book Sales

    The Friends of the Manchester Public library will be kicking off monthly book sales on Sunday, October 16th. Each Sunday the book sale carts will be filled, arranged, and staffed by a Friend of the Manchester Public Library. A great opportunity for some great books that support and supplement library programs and services. · The sales will be held: Nov 20, Dec 4, Jan 22, Feb 26, and March 19.

    Mother Goose Storytime

    YA GINGERBREAD HOUSE DECORATING PARTY

    Wednesday, December 7 @ 12:30 PM at the Community Center.

    Candy canes, gumdrops, licorice, marshmallows and more… Join us and get into the holiday spirit as you decorate your very own gingerbread house!

    Grades 6-12 welcome. The elves need lots of time to shop. Please register by December 1st. 526-7711.

    Movie Night: The Holiday

    Start off your holiday season with a romantic comedy about opening up to unexpected experiences when you leave your home for a new adventure. Come by the Library on Friday, December 9th at 5:30 PM and follow the story of two women from opposite ends of the world who share similar troubles in life and love. Not wanting to spend Christmas alone they use an online house swapping service to live in each other’s homes, one in London and one in Los Angeles, where they unexpectedly find love and discover new strengths within themselves. The film stars Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jack Black and Jude Law. Call the Library at 978-526-7711 to make a reservation. Bring your own drink, the Library will provide popcorn. This movie is rated PG-13 and anyone under 13 must have a parent or guardian fill out a permission slip available at the Library's circulation desk.

    Explore Virtual Reality

    GamingForward is bringing Virtual Reality to the Library. See scenic vistas, practice your archery skills, play mini-golf on a crazy course, and more.

    If you haven’t used VR yet, you owe it to yourself to witness the future of this technology. Join us and give it a try!

    Movie Night: Florence Foster Jenkins

    Come by the Library on Friday, December 30th to enjoy a story about making your dreams come true even when the odds are stacked against you. Meryl Streep plays a New York heiress in 1944 who has always wanted to become an opera singer, despite having a terrible singing voice. Unwilling to give up on her one passion, she surrounds herself with friends and family, and a reluctant piano teacher, to support her in a quest to perform at Carnegie Hall.     Library Closed Early For New Year's Eve

    The Library will be open from 10 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, December 31st. It will be closed on Sunday, January 1st and Monday, January 2nd. The Library will reopen on Tuesday, January 3rd from 1 PM to 8 PM.
