    20 minute program of simple books, focusing on rhythm, sounds, and concepts. For infants up to children 2 years old. No registration required!

    Cocoa Ice with Harbormaster Bion Pike

    On May 4 at 2 PM, Bion Pike, Manchester’s Harbormaster, will lead an interactive exploration of what ships were like in the 1800’s as well as the exotic goods they carried. He'll bring maps to share, stories to tell, and activities to do!

    May The “Sith” Be With You Star Wars Night!

    Games! Treats! Costumes! And catch the movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens! On Friday, May 'Sith' (6th) at 4:30 PM come by the library for some Star Wars games and treats! Then at 5:30 PM we will be showing Episode VII of the Star Wars Saga. Continue the epic journey of the seventh installment in the main space opera Star Wars film series, The Force Awakens is set 30 years after Return of the Jedi; it follows Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron’s search for Luke Skywalker and their fight alongside the Resistance, led by veterans of the Rebel Alliance, against Kylo Ren and the First Order, a successor group to the Galactic Empire. This movie stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac. This movie is rated PG-13 and anyone under 13 must have a parent or guardian fill out a permission slip available in the Children's Room.     Movie Night: Joy

    On Friday, May 13th at 5:30 PM come see the 2015 American biographical comedy-drama film starring Jennifer Lawrence as Joy Mangano, a self-made millionaire who created her own business empire. Mangano was a divorced mother with three children in the early 1990s when she invented the Miracle Mop and became an overnight success, after which she patented many other products, often selling on the Home Shopping Network and QVC. Popcorn will be provided. This film stars Jennifer Lawrence, Rober DeNiro, and Bradly Cooper. This movie is rated PG-13 and anyone under 13 must have a parent or guardian fill out a permission slip available at the Library’s circulation desk.     Library Closes at 6 PM for Friends of the Library Meeting

    The Library will close at 6 PM for the Friends of the Manchester Library's meeting at the Historical Museum starting at 6:30 PM.

    Author Visit: "The Finest Hours" Michael Tougias

    Michael Tougias will visit on Wednesday, May 18th at 7:00 PM at the Manchester Historical Museum to discuss this book during the Friends of the Library Annual Meeting! His visit is supported in part by the Friends of the Manchester Library and in part by a grant from the Manchester Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. The goal of the Community Reads program is to promote a culture of reading by providing citizens an opportunity to engage in thoughtful discussion of the same book. It was first started by Nancy Pearl, Author of Book Lust, in 1988 to help build a sense of community and to promote literacy. We continue to carry on that tradition today through our annual Manchester Reads programs!

    Join the people from the Worcester Think Tank and explore renewable energy sources.

    You’ll design and build your own small solar powered car to take home! Who can make the coolest, fastest car?

    Maritime Day

    On May 21, come celebrate the sea with this special collaboration between the library and the the Manchester Historical Museum!

    Starting at 10 AM, come for storytime at the library followed by food, activities, and a boat-building contest at the library. Then walk to the museum for a rousing performance of sea chanteys and more fun!
