    Clutter Control with Dave Downs

    Clutter Control, a program with Professional De-Clutterer, Dave Downs will be at the Manchester Public Library on Wednesday, June 1, at 6 PM. Clutter Control, a program for anyone who might have a little, or a lot, of clutter in their life with Dave Downs, facilitator.

    Jamboree-by-the-Sea

    For ages 0 to 4, six weeks at the Manchester Historical Museum! Each week I bring a different author's books to check out, Lisa Cheney brings music, and you bring your tots to have fun!

    Books at the Beach with Nancy Thayer

    Bestselling novelist Nancy Thayer will be joining Manchester Library’s Lori, Rachael and Sara to kick off this year’s Books @ the Beach Group! Nancy is the author of twenty-three novels great for beach reading, including Summer House, The Hot Flash Club, Beachcombers, Heat Wave, Summer Breeze, and Island Girls. Join us to talk about great beach reads, get suggestions and pick up some good books! This is a 30-minute group with fun beach reading suggestions, sharing of books, and more! The Group will be on the beach again in July and August with new suggestions and more talk of hot summer reading. BONUS FUN! First 10 to attend get a free library tote bag and a free iced coffee from our friends at the Laughing Gull concession stand. Shout out to Manchester Parks & Rec for helping us coordinate this fun.

    Movie Night: Hail, Caesar!

    Movie Night
    Come by the Library on Friday, June 10th to enjoy a Coen brothers film filled with popular stars giving an amusing portrayal of life in Hollywood during the 1950’s. When leading star Baird Whitlock is kidnapped during film production a fixer, Eddie Mannix, who is in charge of keeping actors images clean, is dispatched to investigate the kidnapping and gather money to pay the ransom. Along the way, Mannix must deal with other studio clients in addition to throwing gossip columnists off his trail. This film stars George Clooney, Josh Brolin, Ralph Fines, Channing Tatum and Scarlett Johanson. Bring your own drink, the Library will provide popcorn. This movie is rated PG-13 and anyone under 13 must have a parent or guardian fill out a permission slip available at the Library’s circulation desk.     Storytime on the Lawn

    Throughout the summer, every Wednesday at 10:30 AM Miss Kate and friends will read books on the lawn for half an hour! Children up to kindergarten age are welcome to sit outside and listen to some fabulous stories! If the weather is rainy, we'll read inside. Drop-ins are welcome.

    Summer Reading Kick-Off with Jungle Jim!

    Join Jungle Jim on a wild Olympic adventure! This awesome balloon magic show contains Jungle Jim's signature brand of balloon artistry, magic, comedy, storytelling and improvisation with over 15 volunteers taking part. Archery, basketball, fencing and even Scottish caber toss are just some of the events that our "athletes" will compete in. Most importantly, Jim will incorporate just how important reading and staying active work together.

    Movie Night: Eddie the Eagle

    Come by the Library on Friday, June 24th at 5:30 PM to enjoy the uplifting biographical sports dramadey during the 1980's about a British athlete's deep passion for ski jumping and his journey to secure an unprecedented Olympic win in that sport. Determined not to let any obstacles stand in his way of becoming first person from Great Britain to compete in this event, he relies on his can-do attitude and the aid of snow groomer Bronson Peary to be his coach and ally to fulfill his dream. This film stars Hugh Jackmon, Taron Egerton and Christopher Walken. Bring your own drink, the Library will provide popcorn.     Lego Build-A-Thon

    Every week, there's a different Lego building challenge. Kids can work in teams or alone to complete the challenge and then they can put their creations on display until the next week!

    Drop-ins welcome! Legos will be portioned into Challenge Sets so no one can use too many but it's first come, first served with the sets. Recommended for kids in grades 1 to 5.

    Tower Building Challenge

    Calling all young adults entering grades 6 through 12. Join us for a Spaghetti and Marshmallow Tower Building Challenge on June 29th beginning at 2 PM in the Library. Test your engineering skills and have some fun!

    Touch a Truck

    Touch a Truck is back! From 5 to 6:30, come touch, climb inside, and even honk the horns of the real vehicles our Fire Department, Department of Public Works, and Police Departments use in Manchester-by-the-Sea! Plus there will be wheels and fuel (cookies and drinks). Kids of all ages are welcome! No need to register.
