NaNoWriMo Day!

Dear Writers,

If you’ve got the writing itch and you love a good challenge, then this is the month for you. Every Monday for the month of November will be NaNoWriMo Day in the Children’s Room! Come any time after 3:30 PM to get your word count in. We’ll have everything you need to get in the groove: earplugs for the writers who need silence as well as ambient sound for the writers who prefer a little noise, pens and pencils for those who write on paper as well as plugs for those who prefer a keyboard, writing prompts and exercises, iPads for research, and books about writing.

Even better, we'll have three parties where you can let off steam about your project! On Monday November 1 at 3:30 PM, we’ll be having our Kick-Off Party! On Monday, November 16 we'll have our Halfway There Party! And on Monday, November 30, we'll have our It's Finally over Party!

So let’s get ready to write!

Yours Truly,
Miss Kate, your friendly neighborhood librarian

Please register in advance for each party with Miss Kate by calling 978-526-2016 or emailing Non-party days are drop-in. For children in grades 1-12.

Discussion on GMOs with Ed Stockman

Do you worry about what your children are eating? Why are GMO (genetically modified organisms) foods labeled in the European Union, but not in the USA? Join us at the Library on Monday, November 30 from 6:30 to 8 PM for a special screening of Genetic Roulette - The Gamble of Our Lives, a film by Jeffrey M. Smith. Ed Stockman, organic farmer and co-founder of Mass. Right to Know GMOs will discuss the film and answer questions.

As a biologist and organic farmer, Ed is familiar with the controversies surrounding GMOs and provides informational sources for GMO related issues such as whether states should legislate to require food labeling of genetically modified ingredients. Stockman greatly encourages attendees to show up at the event with questions.

For more on GMOs, visit the Institute for Responsible Technology's website.

Non-GMO refreshments will be on display and available for sampling provided by Common Crow.
