Updated Library Services and Information FAQ

What is the Manchester Public Library’s Curbside Pickup service?

Manchester Public Library is providing Curbside Pickup service for our patrons. You will need to have a library card to place a Curbside Pickup order. If you do not have a card, please checkout our Digital Library Card registration page.

Curbside Pickup is a library lending service where patrons may remotely request library materials, then pick them up outside the library during established days and times:

Curbside Pickup Hours:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday between 11 AM – 2 PM / Tuesday, Thursday between 4 PM – 7 PM
  • If these times do not work for you, please contact the Manchester Public Library staff at 978-526-7711 or manchesterbythesealibrary@gmail.com

You can remotely request library items through the library’s Online Public Access Catalog, or call library staff at 978-526-7711. If a staff member does not answer, please leave a message with your name, phone number, and a message letting staff know you would like to place a pickup order.

Also, if you need help finding titles or suggestions to request, you can use the Personalized Recommendation Request Forms and library staff will get back to you with possibilities for your next pick up.

Please be aware that there will be a three-day waiting period between submitting the Curbside Pickup request and library materials being safely available to borrow.

What safety precautions are the Manchester library staff following to protect themselves and the public from COVID-19?

Manchester Public Library staff members are following the specific guidelines presented by the State of Massachusetts and the Town of Manchester’s Board of Health on how to safely operate services for employees and the public.

MA Safety Standards | MA COVID-19 Checklist | Town of Manchester Board of Health

All staff members are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and will practice increased sanitation practices in addition to social distancing from other staff members when inside the library and from members of the public during the Curbside Pickup service.

Additionally, all returned library materials are placed in a 72-hour quarantine before being placed back on shelves or reserved for Curbside Pickup.
